Are you an experienced fundraising professional with a passion for public media and community impact? Our client is looking for a dynamic Chief Development Officer (CDO) to join their leadership team and help shape the future of a trusted media organization serving a 21-county region in New York State.

What You’ll Do:
  • Lead and expand all fundraising efforts, including major gifts, membership, grants, and corporate support
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align development strategies with organizational goals
  • Cultivate relationships with donors, community partners, and stakeholders
  • Inspire and manage a talented development team
What We’re Looking For:
  • Proven success in fundraising and donor relations, preferably in public media or nonprofit sectors
  • Strategic thinker with strong leadership and communication skills
  • Passion for public service and community engagement
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
  • Guide fundraising and donor strategy for executive leadership
  • Lead development efforts with the Board and Development Committee
  • Represent the organization at community events and foster inclusive stakeholder relationships
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to set fundraising priorities and improve communication across teams
Program Management & Oversight
  • Develop and execute a multi-year fundraising and sponsorship plan
  • Monitor and report on fundraising performance and progress
  • Oversee the development team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations
  • Manage donor communications, events, and stewardship strategies
  • Ensure accurate donor data management and budget alignment
Volunteer Management
  • Serve as liaison to the Development Committee, supporting volunteer engagement and goal setting
  • Drive 100% board participation in annual giving
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers in fundraising efforts
Major Gift Portfolio Management
  • Manage a portfolio of major donors and cultivate long-term relationships
  • Coach staff and board members on donor engagement and stewardship strategies
Pay: $90,000 to $110,000 per year
